Flying has often been perceived very wrongly – it is in fact
cheaper, faster and more accessible than you may think. There’s a whole
new experience to discover while you sit comfortably in your seat,
thousands of feet in the air, accompanied by views to die for, friendly
air hostesses and passengers, as well as great food, contrary to popular
belief. It’s time we recognised flying as THE way to travel; read on to

It’s fast
Flying is so much faster than taking the boat, bus or train. For
example, a week-long trip from the UK to the US by boat will take a mere
10 hours by plane. Flying from England to Scotland takes just under an
hour, while it may take around 5 or more hours by train, and who knows
how much longer by car? Take hours upon hours off of your trip by
choosing the way of the fliers. Next stop, aviation station (or the
local airport).
It’s becoming more affordable
Because flying is so popular these days, airlines have been
discovering ways to make the fares cheaper and cheaper. With so many
travel comparison websites and companies ready to assist you with
finding the cheapest rates, the world is your oyster!
You can get to destinations that were previously unreachable by plane
Think of small islands just off of the coast of a country or any
destination that you would like to go to. Since the invention of air
travel, we have been able to travel anywhere that the mind wishes to!
The views over the earth are simply unparalleled
Always, always get the window seat and keep the blind open. You can
climb a hundred mountains, drive hundreds of kilometres or walk for days
upon end and still not experience anything quite like the birds eye
view from the window of a plane. It also puts everything in perspective;
seeing the world from up above, from the miniscule cars to the tiny
skyscrapers, you really begin to see just how gigantic the planet is.
It is actually very safe
It is so safe that in fact you’re probably more likely to get struck
by lightning than die in a plane crash. The US Government ran a study
and with 568 plane crashes taking place between 1993 and 2000, 90% of
the crew and passengers overall survived. If you think that is a lot of
crashes, bear in mind that as you read this, there is on average 10,000
planes in the sky.
In-flight entertainment is just superb
From films to interactive maps and music on the screen in front of
you, to amusing flight hostesses and cool magazines or in flight
shopping, there is a multitude of things to do on the plane as you fly.
Everyone talks to each other like old friends
As you’re all in the same situation and technically travelling
together for the next short period of time, most passengers speak to
each other to pass the time, which brings about a sense of community on
the plane. People are also understanding if you just feel like reading
or sleeping, though. If you’re one of those people that can’t sleep on
long haul flights, the hostesses are usually awake, or there is always
one other person that is also awake. So rest assured, whether you are
travelling alone or with people, there will always be someone to chat
with.
